Generational Timeline

First Gen Chimeras: Born between 1950-1979:

The first born human-animal hybrids, human mother's egg cell and animal 'donor' cells injected into the human father who now had human-animal sperm DNA. Developed by the US Department for Biological Entities in Chicago, later renamed to the US Biolab Institute of Chicago, for the purpose of ethically harvesting organs from organisms who most biologically resembled humans, as opposed to the harvesting of animals that had previously been performed by researchers.

First gen chimeras were sent to a specialized school from K-12, and segregated from the human population, where they were shaped for what would soom become an inevitable end of being organ harvested. From a young age, they are taught that becoming a "lab rat" (a term used amongst the chimera community) is the ideal end to a life of serious health issues and societal rejection. Any major opposition to this view of scientific martyrdom came across as 'dangerous' and 'rebellious' to the government, and would be flagged as such; the most outspoken chimeras who expressed these views became the targets of government surveillance and assassinations.

Second Gen Chimeras: Born between 1980-2009:

Born from at least one chimera parent and display chimera characteristics. The government allowed that they assimilate with human children in schools, but 1G chimera parents who retained their previous teachings would instill the same values onto their children. However, a majority of these chimera children, seeing how their human peers lived their lives without constantly thinking about their impending doom, yearned to live their lives in the same way.

This became the generation that rebelled against the "lab rat" idea of chimeradom. Many rebelledd in the same way human children and teens did in those years, but this included disfiguring themselves of their chimera features. Their specie ears were painfully hacked off with box cutters and horns were wrapped with rubber bands as close to the base of their skull as possible. For some however, their features could not be removed as easily. In any case, existing outside of their government-assigned death was enough of a sign of rebellion.

Third Gen Chimeras: Born between 2010-2039:

Not much is known regarding the newest generation of chimeras, but research suggests that they may be the last of the three generations. One act of rebellion many chimeras took part in was the refusal to have children and inflict the same suffering they and their parents suffered at the hands of the government. Out of the three generations, they are the smallest age group, and many researchers believe that by the fifth generation, there will only be around 50 chimeras that will be classified within it.
