What is [Deep Space Sighs]?

[DSS] is an OC passion project. It's something that has been in (and is still is in) development on-and-off for the past three years, and its name is based off a reference to the MGMT song Mystery Disease. The song serves as an inspiration for the story.

Why Chimeras?

The entire concept of chimeras has intrigued me ever since I found out about it when I was younger, specifically the various bills that have been introduced to US Congress looking to ban human chimeras. I even did my bioethics final project on real world chimerism since the entire concept is facinating to me, along with the other themes that are pretty apparent while constructing the story (marginalized groups, martrydom, etc).

What Inspired [DSS]?

A lot of media and real life world events inspired [DSS], including movies like Mysterious Skin, Threads, Suicide Club, and 964 Pinocchio. Fullmetal Alchemist was also partially a source of inspiration. But the biggest source of inspiration is real life stories of historical events such as the forced assimilation of Christianity onto marginalized populations, and the struggles of coming to terms with it. The story does not necessarily revolve around religion, but the Chimeras were forced to exist the way they are by their oppressors, and turned their suffering into a source of "purpose" for their existence.
